Belly Number Two

Lately I've been thinking a lot about getting pregnant again. I've even dreamed about it a few times. I miss my big ol' belly, I miss feeling a little one moving inside me, I just kinda miss being pregnant. Now, let's be clear here, I don't miss feeling yucky and sick for the first couple of months, the crap sleep, or the hip/butt pain I had something fierce in the end. Also, in the interest of full disclosure, I also do not miss the peeing every five minutes, that awkward in-between stage when normal clothes are too small but maternity clothes are too big, and the huge and swollen appendages I had last time. Um, also the anxiety and the mind-numbing fear something would go wrong. Okay, so my list of not so fun things about pregnancy could be longer, I know. But what can I say? In my current, very sleep deprived state of mind, I think longingly about the good parts of being pregnant and miss it very much. Especially the belly. I loved the way my belly looked when I was big and pregnant. I loved the way it made my body look. I loved rubbing it and talking softly to it and feeling little hands and feet push on it. *sigh*

And although I'm ready for pregnancy number two, I don't know if I'm ready for baby number two. Anybody else ever feel that way? I don't necessarily have baby fever, but I will sheepishly admit I do have a twinge (or possibly a full blown case) of pregnancy fever. Silly, huh?

Ahhh, Glorious Mother's Day

I hope all of you who are in the mothering way had a lovely day yesterday. I also hope all of you did something nice for your mother yesterday, too. My day started out wonderfully, with the best gift I think any mother of small children can get - extra sleep. Glorious, wondrous, exquisite sleep. After waking from my beauty rest (which, now that I think of it, explains why I look like crap so much lately - I'm missing so much beauty rest! Must remedy that.) I was served a delicious and homemade breakfast at my clean dining room table on which some lovely yellow flowers had been placed. We then spent most of the day lazing around in our pajamas and watching a movie. What a nice, quiet day it was. My hubby sure knows how to pamper me. I do think I'll be keeping him.

Oh! I almost forgot! Guess what hubby and I did Saturday night? Go on, guess. I'll wait. ............ Okay, whoever guessed that we watched an entire movie all the way through with not a single interruption is the winner!! Can you believe it?! A Whole Movie! That hasn't happened since L was born, and let me tell you, it was so nice. So very nice.

Um, so, yes, I had a lovely, and pretty lazy, weekend. How about you?

Movin' and Groovin'

My little L is on the move. Yesterday she took two steps two different times and she is able to scale an entire room as long as there is some sort of furniture, wall or other object to help her keep her balance. She doesn't crawl, instead she does this scoot-sort-of-thing that involves mostly using her hands and arms to drag her legs behind her. And she does it while in a sitting position. It's quite comical, actually, and hubby and I have made sure to get a few videos of her doing it to save for her dating years.

We've had to start really baby proofing the house lately, seeing as how she can pretty much get wherever she wants to, and quicker than you would think she's able. Kitchen cabinets have been locked up, outlets plugged and the fireplace hearth has been covered with this foam thing - Baby Safety Foam - which actually is a great idea and works really well (thanks B for finding that for me!). It's crazy, crazy I tell you!, that my girl is old enough and agile enough to move freely about our home. And the very idea that she will be an entire year old in just a few short months, well, that's so preposterous that I'm not even going to discuss it. Except to say An Entire Year Old! Yikes!

It's really cool, though, how much she is growing up, and I am so dearly and incredibly blessed to be at home all day everyday with a front row seat for the show. I would hate to be missing all these amazing firsts of hers. And in order to catch them you've got to be constantly on the lookout - hubby missed one of the instances of her taking two steps yesterday because he had the audacity to go to the bathroom.

So there you have it folks, that's why I won't be making the mistake of visiting the restroom anytime between now and oh, 2026 or so. I mean, I don't want to unintentionally skip anything, you know? My girl and her amazing accomplishments are far to important to miss.

April: The Month of Firsts

Okay, so, there is much to catch up on around here.

We took L on her first camping trip a few weekends ago - it was so much fun! She loved being outdoors and did really well. In fact, she slept better in the tent than she does at home - makes me want to set the tent up in the living room... We went with my best friend L and her boyfriend which made the trip that much more fun. They are getting ready to move to Texas at the end of the month so she can complete her residency in pediatrics, which is all well and good for her, but it sure sucks for me! But at least I know they'll be coming back to good old sunny Florida in a few years, and if they even for one second consider staying in Texas I have threatened all sorts of very unpleasant things, so yes, back to Florida they will come. I am menacing and scary like that. Or maybe not, but anyway, that's just details.

We also went up to the big city of Atlanta, taking L on her first long car ride (and boy was it ever long) and stayed in a beautiful and swanky hotel in a nice room with a lovely view. L also got in the pool for the first time while we were there and absolutely loved it! I believe she thought it was the biggest bathtub, like, ever, and amused herself with lots of splashing and desperately trying to leap from our arms head first into the water. Oh, and can I just say how stinking adorable she looked in her little bathing suit? Cause she looked so stinking adorable in her little bathing suit.

And what else, oh yes, all the other firsts that occurred in April. L pulled up on furniture for the first time, she took two steps for the first time, and pushed herself into a sitting position for the first time. Not to be left out of the Month Of Firsts, I also had a first in April - the first time I've breastfed in a moving vehicle. Yes folks, I always wondered how ladies were able to do that, and turns out it's not so hard, you just have to position yourself correctly over the car seat. Being able to nurse L on the road made our long trip to Atlanta so much easier and had the added bonus of less crying. Gotta love that.

So there you go, all the big stuff that happened in our lives last month. Now I'm off to visit all your little corners of cyberspace to find out what's been going on in your lives the last month or so. See you soon!
